Edinburgh short film showcase The Blue Room heads west on October 4

by Amber Wilkinson

Successful short film showcase The Blue Room is to become a regular event in Glasgow following it’s year-on-year success in Edinburgh.

The first screening will take place at the Glasgow Film Theatre at 7pm on Tuesday October 4th, with the usual Edinburgh slot in the Cameo Cinema the night before at 6:30pm.

The event was devised in November 2001 as a means of bringing shorts to audiences beyond the film festival circuit. Each month a fantastic new batch of shorts are presented.

Mediabase co-ordinator Paul Ryan said "The Blue Room provides an excellent opportunity for filmmakers to screen their work to a public paying audience and aspiring filmmakers to find out all they need to know about kick -starting their own filmmaking career."

Presented by Mediabase and GMAC, It’s all about watching great short films, meeting other filmmakers and getting all the info needed to go out and make films.

The format is simple – a new batch of films is presented each month, interspersed with brief question and answer sessions with the filmmakers present.

Following the screening, the action moves to the bar where aspiring filmmakers meet and future film productions are planned.

The cost of admission is £3.50, £2.50(concs), with tickets available at the Cameo and GFT box offices.
