Whedon quits Wonder Woman

Buffy creator cites creative differences with studio

by Amber Wilkinson

Joss Whedon has announced he has dropped out of the much-anticipated big screen adaptation of Wonder Woman.

The Buffy The Vampire Slayer creator was scheduled to write and direct the movie about the Amazonia princess this year.

But citing creative differences, Whedon announced on fan website Whedonesque.com that he has quit the project.

He said: " I'm no longer slated to make Wonder Woman.

"It's pretty complicated, so bear with me. I had a take on the film that, well, nobody liked. Hey, not that complicated."

"Let me stress first that everybody at the studio and Silver Pictures were cool and professional. We just saw different movies, and at the price range this kind of movie hangs in, that's never gonna work.

"Everybody knows how long I was taking, what a struggle that script was, and though I felt good about what I was coming up with, it was never gonna be a simple slam-dunk."

Adding that he was relieved as he was disappointed the 42-year-old said he will now concentrate on thriller Goners, which he is working on for Universal Pictures.
