Principal photography will begin on Paul Andrew Williams latest film Cherry Tree Lane in north London on July 16.

The urban thriller about a couple who are terrorised in their home by youths hunting their son, is written and directed by Williams. It is being made by Steel Mill Pictures in partnership with The UK Film Council, The Salt Company and Metrodome Distribution.

The London To Brighton helmer said: "Cherry Tree Lane, for me, is a film that needs to be looked at on many levels. On the surface we are talking about an extremely horrific event that takes place, in real time, to an innocent family.

"It is tense, harrowing and even disturbing at times and how these elements are handled, dramatically and cinematically will determine the final style of the film. It is closer in style to London to Brighton creatively, but the social issues it brings to the fore and the currency of the subject matter will mean it has broad cinematic appeal."

Metrodome will distribute the film in the UK. Their general manager distribution Sara Frain said: "Paul Andrew Williams is one of the most talented filmmakers to emerge in British cinema over the last few years and his directorial vision for Cherry Tree Lane is a perfect fit with Metrodome's strategy in releasing quality British films."
