The nominees for this year's BAFTA Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Awards were announced today, with members of the public once again invited to vote on who they think is the most promising young talent.

Gemma Arterton is the Bond girl who faced the mighty Kraken in Clash Of The Titans, roamced the Prince Of Persia and impressed in the title role as Stephen Frears' Tamara Drewe.

Andrew Garfield is the young hero of The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus who won acclaim for his performance in David Fincher's The Social Network after coming to public attention in Doctor Who.

Tom Hardy amazed critics with his riveting performance in Bronson before going on to star in Inception. He also proved popular in TV series Cape Wrath.

Aaron Johnson was welcomed by fans as would-be crimefighter Kick-Ass, but has also shown star quality in a very different context, playing the young John Lennon in Nowhere Boy.

Emma Stone won praise for her comic timing and the pathos of her work in teen hit Easy-A, and has also made an impression in Superbad and Zombieland.
