Glenn Close to receive San Sebastian Donostia

Star selected for lifetime achievement award.

by Amber Wilkinson

Glenn Close will be given the Donostia Lifetime Achievement Award at next month's San Sebastian Film Festival.

The Oscar-nominated actress will receive the award in a ceremony on September 18 and will also introduce the European premiere of her latest film Albert Nobbs.

Directed by Rodrigo García, the film is set in 19th Century Ireland and tells the story of a woman who disguises herself as a man to get a job in a hotel and earn the money she needs to fulfil her dream.

Close - whose 30-year film career has seen her nominated for Oscars for The Big Chill, The Natural, Fatal Attraction and Stephen Frears' Dangerous Liaisons - has also been a hit on the small screen in Damages and The Shield.

Previous recipients of the Donostia prize include Julia Roberts, Sir Ian McKellen, Francis Ford Coppola and Woody Allen. The San Sebastian Film Festival will run from 16 to 24 September and we'll be bringing you exclusive coverage here at Eye For Film.
