The Glasgow Youth Film Festival opened today, with Muppets stars Kermit and Miss Piggy sending their greetings in a recorded interview. Both demonstrated their love of Scotland by wearing tartan hats, and the festival organisers returned the compliment by dressing up as muppets.
New film The Muppets, preceded by a Toy Story short, played to a full house including children of all ages. It kicks off a festival that will run for ten days, with highlights including Simple Simon - the story of a teenager with Asperger's seeking the ideal girlfriend for his brother - and A Boy And His Samurai, a tale of time travel, friendship and pastry. All of the films have been chosen by young people and there's something suitable for every age group.
Alongside the films, the festival includes workshops to help young people get involved and learn about filmmaking. There will also be special guests and opportunities to find out more about films that capture your imagination.
