Whiplash has been named Best Film in the first ever Scottish Film Critics' Awards. Although many international awards selections include it in last year's batch, a later release date in the UK meant it was eligible this time round for these awards, which are going by calendar year. It beat close contenders Mad Max: Fury Road and 45 Years, which proved popular with Scottish audiences at last year's Edinburgh International Film Festival.
