Sundance London dates brought forward

Move to June 2-5 avoids Doc/Fest clash.

by Amber Wilkinson

Sundance Institute and Picturehouses have announced that the 2016 dates for Sundance London will be brought forward to June 2-5.

The move avoids the festival going directly head-to-head with Sheffield Doc/Fest on the weekend of June 10. It also moves it further away from Edinburgh International Film Festival, which will host its 70th edition from June 15-26.

Clare Binns, Director of Programming and Acquisitions at Picturehouse, said: “Picturehouse and Sundance Institute have taken the decision to adjust our 2016 dates in order to find the ideal place amongst the UK film and event calendar in June. The new dates offer maximum opportunity for UK and London film fans to see a wide range of new independent films this June.”

The 2016 London programme will be announced this spring and details will be available from sundance.org/london.
