The director of tomorrow’s much heralded Cannes Film Festival première of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Quentin Tarantino, has issued a statement on social media requesting reviewers as well his fans to avoid giving anything away that would undermine other people’s enjoyment of the film.

The Pulp Fiction director, who only just finished his latest production in the nick of time for inclusion in the festival’s Competition, asked people to avoid any spoilers in discussion of the film.

His statement said: "I only ask that everyone avoids revealing anything that would prevent later audiences from experiencing the film in the same way."

Stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie will join the director on the red carpet. The film is about which little is known, charts the Charles Manson murders in 1969, with Robbie playing victim Sharon Tate. The film is said to reflect Tarantino’s love affair with cinema.

Tarantino wrote, "I love Cinema. You love Cinema. It’s the journey of discovering a story for the first time. I’m thrilled to be here in Cannes to share Once Upon A Time…in Hollywood with the festival audience. The cast and crew have worked hard to create something original.”

Audiences have been warned ...

Meanwhile, a series of 'in world' posters have been released for the film.
