UniFrance and its board have cancelled international travel for the directors and actors scheduled to attend the 25th Rendez-Vous with French Cinema festival in New York, due to the current coronavirus outbreak and following recommendations made by other French companies and official organisations.

Ethan Hawke is still scheduled to attend the opening night screening on March 5 of Hirokazu Kore-eda’s The Truth (La vérité), in which he co-stars with Juliette Binoche and Catherine Deneuve.

“It is a very sad and difficult decision to make. We were so thrilled to come to New York with such a great delegation,” said Daniela Elstner, Director of UniFrance. “We must take recommended precautions seriously, but will be doing video interviews and Q&As from France to ensure New York audiences get the same incredible experience as always. This year’s lineup is indicative of the diverse, incredible work coming out of France, and we will continue to foster artistic exchange between the French and American film industries.”

The 25th Rendez-Vous with French Cinema, organized by Film at Lincoln Center’s Florence Almozini with UniFrance, will run from March 5 through March 15 at the Walter Reade Theater in New York.
