Crowdfunding for the reopening of Edinburgh Filmhouse has taken another leap forward after securing a £1.5m grant.

The money comes in the form of major capital grant from the UK Government’s ‘Community Ownership Fund’.

The Open the Doors campaign has said it is hopeful it can now agree a lease with building owners Caledonian Heritable in May. The new Filmhouse Edinburgh Ltd plans to refurbish the cinemas with the creation of a fourth screen. .

The crowdfunder is now just £55,000 shy of its £300,000 target. Support the crowdfunder here.
