EIFF 2001: Day 10

It's quiet on the fest while the screenwriters workshop.

by Trinity

Not much happening today - the only premiere of note was the controversial "Trouble Every Day" by Claire Denis, an everyday tale about sexually oriented cannibalism, starring Beatrice Dalle and Vincent Gallo. Sadly, there were no live demonstrations of some of the sequences in the film, as the cinema refused to clean up the gore afterwards.

All day, enthusiastic budding screenwriters attended a number of events run by The Script Factory. From the initial development through to a reading of a script these events were an interesting and informative journey through the land of screenplays. If you're interested in writing, there is also a free workshop being put on by the BBC on Friday - contact the Film Festival for ticket details.

What we did have today was a number of announcements. Starting with the Best of the Fest lineup, announced yesterday other announcements include a live online webchat with Robin Gutch, head of FilmFour labs (Wednesday); a day long look at the "American Fringe", including discussions by a number of stars at the Dominion Cinema (Wednesday); and an interview with Emma Thompson at the UGC (Sunday).

Finally, a last thing to look out for on Wednesday is the Bafta interview featuring Chris Hegedus and D A Pennebaker, the acclaimed documentary makers - startup.com and Down From The Mountain are featured in this years festival.
