The Tribeca Film Festival released the line-up for its Spotlight, Showcase and Restored/Rediscovered sections today.

The New York fest, which runs from April 23 to May 4, also announced five special events.

Among the Spotlight selection are films including Mister Lonely, and Sundance successes The Wackness, Man On Wire and Bigger, Stronger Faster.

Artistic Director Peter Scarlet said: "Our Spotlight section presents a group of films already acquired for US distribution but not yet released, including hotly-anticipated new titles by José Padilha, Julian Schnabel, Harmony Korine, Guy Maddin and Tom Kalin, and world premieres from Peter Tolin and Adam Yauch.

Speaking abou the Showcase section - which features festival favourites from around the world he added: "Showcase includes a group of outstanding works not yet bought by any American distributors despite the acclaim they’ve already received internationally, including France’s top award-winner this year, and a film by one of the last great masters of European cinema, Andrzej Wajda, which was one of the five nominees for the Best Foreign Language Oscar®."

Among the restored/rediscovered films to screen this year will be Federico Fellini's Toby Dammit.

Scarlet said: "Our Restored/Rediscovered selections continue our efforts to take a fresh look at the history of film, and offer a rare opportunity to see newly restored or preserved titles from some of the world’s leading film archives and works by major artists which for one reason or another had recently become difficult or impossible to see.

"Finally, our Special Events screenings include yet another major restoration, one of the most eagerly-awaited documentaries of the year, a 40th birthday celebration of an acknowledged classic, and one of the most beautiful films ever made about New York City."
