Edinburgh Film Festival goes online

EIFF teams up with Projector.tv for video on demand

by Amber Wilkinson

Edinburgh International Film Festival is to introduce an online element to its showcase, it was announced today.

Video-on-demand site Projector.tv have been announced as the official online partner of EIFF and will be hosting a selection of the films so that those who can't make it to the Scottish capital can still get a flavour of the festival.

The site will host titles from past and present EIFF selections – all within its own secure branded EIFF platform.

Artistic director Hannah McGill said: “Each year we look to do something new and different with the Festival, and this online partnership is just one example of how EIFF has developed this year.

“This is another great way for our fantastic films to reach a wider audience whilst still remaining part of the Festival."

Creative director of Projector.tv Kobi Prempeh added: “We are securing a strong range of titles in selection at this year’s Festival, that will only be exclusively available on our site for the duration of the Festival.

"Partnering with the Edinburgh Film Festival is a great way for both emerging and experienced film makers to directly engage with the growing online film community in a secure and commercial way.”

Projector.tv - which specialises in world cinema, independent movies and documentaries - will also sponsor the Best New International Film Award at this year's film festival, which runs from June 16 to 27.
