The full list of films screening at this year's Glasgow Frightfest, part of the Glasgow Film Festival, was revealed today. Lords Of Chaos, the story of Norwegian black metal band Mayhem (who were linked to a series of church burnings and whose guitarist was murdered by a fellow musician), will open the three day horror spectacular. It will close with The Hoard, by the makers of Pontypool - a horror comedy involving haunte houses.

Highlights set to screen in between include science fiction thriller Freaks, starring Bruce Dern, in which a seven-year-old is tempted to open a forbidden door; festival hit Dead Ant, in which a group of musicians have a very bad trip; and gothic horror Automata, which sees an antiques expert uncovering something nasty in the Highlands.

There's an extensive line-up of guests confirmed so far, including Scottish auteurs Lawrie Brewster and Sarah Daly, and Swedish exploitation icon Christina Lindberg.

"Currently at its most vibrant and popular, the horror fantasy genre is constantly garnering critical acclaim, pushing boundaries and asking tough questions of audiences by reflecting relevant political and social issues," said festival co-director Alan Jones. "The genre isn’t just about escapism but a key tool to make sense of the chaos and confusion swirling around our everyday lives and FrightFest has known this for 20 years now, so it’s fantastic the rest of the world has finally woken up and smelt the coffins."

Glasgow Frightfest will take place in the GFT from the 28th of February to the 2nd of March.
