Film at Lincoln Center has announced Special Events for the 57th New York Film Festival, including a Screenwriting Master Class with Olivier Assayas (Wasp Network, starring Penélope Cruz and Édgar Ramirez), presented by Warby Parker, Martin Scorsese (The Irishman) and Pedro Almodóvar (Pain And Glory with Antonio Banderas) in On Cinema talks with Kent Jones, and Directors Dialogues from Bong Joon-ho (Parasite) and Mati Diop (Atlantics).

Joker with Joaquin Phoenix and director Todd Phillips in a Q&A, a free screening and panel discussion on Roee Messinger's American Trial: The Eric Garner Story, and Francis Ford Coppola's The Cotton Club Encore (with Richard Gere, Gregory Hines, Diane Lane, Lonette McKee) "for which the director recovered lost negatives to bring the film back to its original length and luster, with restored sound and image", have also been added to the festival with the previously announced Main Slate and Spotlight on Documentary selections.

The Directors Dialogues are the New York Film Festival’s annual series of intimate conversations, in which a selection of filmmakers from this year’s festival sit down for special Q&As to discuss the ideas and the craft behind their newest works.

HBO is the presenting sponsor of NYFF Talks, which bring wide-ranging conversations with directors featured in the 57th New York Film Festival to the public and include Directors Dialogues and On Cinema. HBO also sponsors NYFF Live, which will be announced in September.

Tickets for the 57th New York Film Festival will go on sale to the general public on September 8.

The 2019 New York Film Festival runs from September 27 through October 13.
