Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead's time-twisting thriller Synchronic is to open this year's Arrow Frightfest in Glasgow, it was revealed today. It will be introduced by its directors, who won a cult following with their 2017 film The Endless. The Frightfest event, which takes place during the Glasgow Film Festival, will run from 5 to 7 March and includes one world, two European and seven UK premières.

Several other guests have already been lined up to attend, including Graham Hughes, who will introduce his new horror comedy Death Of A Vlogger, and longstanding Frightfest enthusiast Joe Begos, who will present VFW (now available for pre-order here), which sees Vietnam veterans take on punk mutants. Other highlights include dark thriller Anderson Falls, which stars Shawn Ashmore and Lin Shaye, and South Korean charmer Zombie For Sale, while the shorts programme includes a tribute to horror film victims who don't make it to the sequel and a chance to see the work of some of the most exciting emerging female directors in the genre.

Festival co-director Alan Jones described it as "another invitation to explore the horror fantasy genre’s fertile harvest bursting with creativity, imagination and difference in a world that often seems hostile to all three."

Tickets will be available from 3 February.
