This year's Arrow Video Frightfest is to open with the world première of Sky Sharks, it was announced today. The Nazi-themed spectacular has been in the works for many years - we discussed it with director Marc Fehse in 2015 - and it's bound to receive a warm welcome from fans. It will be accompanied by a quiz, emphasising that the participation element of the festival will be preent as always despite the fact that this year it's all taking place online.

"We will desperately miss seeing all of you in person this August Bank Holiday but are looking forward to our virtual connection where we can say hello to the best family in the world, the FrightFest community," said festival co-director Alan Jones. "If you’ve never experienced a FrightFest before, and have always yearned to join in with the fear, fun and fabulousness now is your chance to find out what you’ve been missing for 21 years."

There's some spectacular gore to look forward to at the festival courtesy of Brazilian occult slasher Skull: The Mask and Australian cannibal romp Two Heads Creek, but the genre also reveals its gentler side with supernatural romance A Ghost Waits, which was a big hit at this year's Glasgow edition. The Honeymoon Phase adds a touch of science fiction, there's Gothic mystery in Playhouse and lovers of chainsaw-based action can look forward to documentary Hail To The Deadites.

The festival will take place from 28 to 31 August and we'll be bringing you full coverage here at Eye For Film.
