Frightfest will return to the Glasgow Film Theatre this year for in-person screenings as part of the Glasgow Film Festival. Opening with hit Russian serial killer thriller The Execution, it will run from 10 to 12 March. Highlights include the UK premières of Sebastian Godwin's Homebound and popular Ozploitation sequel Wormwood: Apocalypse. Family life comes under scrutiny in stylish revenge tale A Cloud So High and creepy Irish drama You Are Not My Mother, dark comedy in cannibal small business story Some Like It Rare and Scottish vampire tale Let The Wrong One In, plus a chance to see the international première of Chris Sivertson's Monstrous, which stars Christina Ricci.

“It’s with great delight and with every single bloody bell and werewolf whistle available, we can proudly announce that FrightFest Glasgow 2022 will be an awesome in-person event featuring the best new fantasy, horror and thriller movies, plus all the expected trimmings," said Frightfest co-director Alan Jones. "Despite the gloom and doom being spoken about the future of the film industry in general, it’s heartening to learn that genre filmmakers have been as hard at work, creating ever more exciting, diverse, challenging and stimulating movies."

With Covid-19 safety protocols still affecting travel, it's not yet clear what fans can expect by way of guests, but Italian director Gabriele Mainetti has confirmed that he will be attending with his new film Freaks Out, which sees four circus freaks take on Hitler.
