Helen Mirren will in an appearance for a new cut of cult classic Caligula - the Ultimate Cut, directed by Tinto Brass and hailed by director Nicholas Winding Refn as “the very quintessence of bad taste, in all the very best ways.” The cast also included Malcolm McDowell and Peter O’Toole - and it was adapted from an original screenplay by Gore Vidal.
The Godard focus will offer restorations of Contempt (Le Mépris) and the archival self-portrait Godard by Godard in addition to the premiere of Phoney Wars.
A collection of filmmakers talk about the future in Room 999, among them James Gray, Rebecca Zlotowski, Claire Denis, Olivier Assayas, Nadav Lapid, Asghar Farhadi, and Alice Rohrwacher. It picks up where Wim Wenders left off in 1982 when he asked 16 of his fellow directors to reflect on the future of cinema. The new take has been directed by Lubna Playoust.
Revered Japanese director Ozu who died in 1963, will be celebrated in new copies of Record Of A Tenement Gentleman from 1947 and The Munekata which he directed in 1950.
