Back for its ninth year, the Glasgow Film Festival continues to go from strength to strength. Opening with César-nominated French romcom Populaire and closing with Joss Whedon introducing his new take on Much Ado About Nothing, it includes several UK premieres and a host of special events and parties. There are thrills and chills from Frightfest, there's comic fan fun from Kapow@GFF, there's a treasure hunt and a cinematic tour of the city, and even the chance to watch Jaws on a boat. All this plus a James Cagney retrospective, the best new cinema from Brazil and a focus on the work of female directors. The main festival opens on Valentine's Day but before that you can catch the Short Film Festival and Youth Film Festival.
