The MTV Music Awards - in addition to Britney Spears badly miming and hardly gyrating at all - had yet another surprise for the 13-year-old in all of us. Announced by cast member and Transformers star Shia LaBeouf, the Fourth Installment of the Indiana Jones chronicles is now known as Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. This was chosen from six possible contenders, all registered by LucasFilm with the Motion Picture Association of America.

Beware - there may be spoilers afoot - although we promise no bottomless pits.

  • Indiana Jones And The City Of Gods
  • Indiana Jones And The Destroyer Of Worlds
  • Indiana Jones And The Fourth Corner Of The Earth
  • Indiana Jones And The Lost City Of Gold
  • Indiana Jones And The Quest For The Covenant

Rising star LeBeouf is widely rumoured to be playing Indy's long-lost son - and other cast members include John Hurt, Ray Winstone, Jim Broadbent and Cate Blanchett. The franchise regains Karen Allen, last seen in the classic Raiders of the Lost Ark, reprising her role as Marion Ravenwood, but sadly loses out on Sir Sean Connery as Indy's dad, Dr Henry Jones.

It will be released in the US and simultaneously in most territories worldwide on Thursday, May 22, 2008. Frank Marshall returns as producer, with Kathleen Kennedy joining George Lucas as executive producer.

Breaking news of the title can be found at www.indianajones.com.

It's all gearing up for a hopefully whip-cracking good time, if not a title.
