The festival celebrated its 63rd year. The longest continually running film festival in the world, EIFF began in 1947 as a champion of documentary films and has expanded to include the full gamut of features, documentaries and short films and was under the artistic directorship of Hannah McGill in 2009.
The programme was announced on May 6 and included a Roger Corman retrospective, plus UK premieres of Rudo Y Cursi, Moon and Mary and Max. The festival opens on June 17 with Sam Mendes' Away We Go and closed on June 28 with the international premiere of Adam.
