The 69th edition of Edinburgh International Film Festival will run from June 17 to 28. The main programme will be announced after Cannes but the incoming artistic director Mark Adams has already announced the main retrospective will be a celebration of American TV series of the Sixties and Seventies entitled Little Big Screen. There will also be a retrospective dedicated to Walter Hill's early work.
The festival's main country focus has been announced as Mexico, which will include new features and archive titles.
Continuing the Masters of Animation series, the festival will present a retrospective of the work of acclaimed animator Barry Purves, who will appear in person to discuss his work. There will also be a one-off screening of Roger Corman's Little Shop Of Horrors with a live performance of the entire soundtrack - including dialogue, foley and music. And to celebrate the 30th anniversary of EIFF's UK premiere of Back To The Future, there will be a screening of the film with live accompaniment.
The festival opened with Robert Carlyle's directorial debut The Legend Of Barney Thomson and close with Iona.
